Basketball's worst injuries happen on landings. The ACL, the rolled ankle, jumper's knee — they go on a rebound, on a closeout, on a cold first jump. HoopsProtocol is the warm-up, landing and strength work that guards against them, built with Cape Concierge PT, a Cape Cod physical-therapy practice.
Forty-eight drills across six sections. Not a video library to scroll — a structure a coach can actually run: what to do before practice, how to land, what builds the armour, and what you owe your body afterwards. The shooting and ball-handling sections are filmed rep by rep; every drill in the app lists its coaching cues in writing.
NO ACCOUNT, NO SETUP
There is no sign-in, no password and no roster. Download it and the team warm-up, the landing work, the strength programme and the recovery section are simply there — nothing to set up before a practice you are already late for.
HOOPSPROTOCOL PRO — ONE-TIME PURCHASE
Pro unlocks the rest of the library: the vertical plyometric block and the filmed shooting and ball-handling work. It is a single purchase on your Google account, not a subscription — buy it once, restore it on your other Android devices. What sits in the open tier is a coaching decision and may be adjusted as the programme develops.
LANDING IS A SKILL
The Bounce section teaches it directly — snap downs, drops to stick, single-leg landings — because the mechanics that keep a knee healthy are trainable, and almost nobody trains them.
CUES, IN WRITING
Every drill lists what to actually say — "land soft, land stacked", "knees over toes, chest up". Coaching a movement you haven't run before shouldn't depend on a video loading in a gym with no signal.
COURTSIDE TOOLS
• Sweat rate — weigh in, weigh out, get a real fluid target instead of a guess
• Hop symmetry — a single-leg hop screen with left/right difference worked out for you
• Workload — acute-to-chronic ratio, so a spike in a training week is visible before it costs you a player
• Heat check — heat-index guidance for summer runs and gyms with no AC
• Form shooting — a timed Mikan-and-form-shots routine that runs itself
These are screening tools for a coach, not a diagnosis, and the app says so where you use them. Anything that hurts goes to a clinician.
HANDOUTS FOR PARENTS AND PLAYERS
Clean one-pagers you can text to a parent or print for the locker room. No app required on their end.
BUILT TO BE READABLE IN A GYM
Type scales with the font size you already set, the whole app is labelled for TalkBack, and it follows your light or dark preference. Tested with an accessibility harness, not asserted.
PRIVACY, PLAIN-LANGUAGE
• No account, so nothing to sign up with and nothing to delete
• No advertising, no analytics, no tracking SDKs of any kind
• No health records and no medical data — the courtside tools work out a number on your device and keep nothing
• The one thing the app can send is the optional "ask CCPT to reach out" form in Settings — an email you type, sent only when you tap the button
• Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else, ever
