Edit: 2017 update This is the app I used years ago when I had Android. I went over to the land of iPhone for a few years and just recently switched back to Android with a Note 8. This is the first app I downloaded, and it's just as great as I remember, and in face has gotten better (which I thought it was amazing to begin with, so that's quite a feat!). The features are amazing, the customization is great. It's seamless. Simple, streamlined, clean app that works just like the stock app SHOULD. Pop ups, group messaging, everything just works amazingly well. Definite five stars :-)
I like this app alot. The overall design and look of it kinda seems cheap. Like not really professional if that makes sense. Also, some of the drop down menus like in a conversation aren't always options that make sense to me. Other than that, the rest of the functionality is pretty great and my favorite part is the customization that is available. Small improvements recommended. Keep up the good work.
Textra is the best kind of messaging app: it never fails to simply work. Sure, you can customize the look and feel to your liking, and sure, it always looks great when doing so, but when you get right down to it the app just works. That's what a messaging app should aspire to do - work. I don't want to fiddle with a badly designed app just to send a text - and with this app, I don't have to. definitely try it!
In the new update all of the features like the emoji and camera and gif keyboards are hidden by the qwerty keyboard. Completely ruins all of the features that make Textra great. I've been a pro user since the beginning, but this bug has caused me to look at other 3rd party texting apps for my new default.
This app is great! Love how's it's now fully compatible with Samsung Gear S3 and also customisable. The only improvement I could see is there needs to be an option to customise an image (from gallery etc) as the background. I get sick of the only white or dark background option. I switched to Textra because I could customise the message bubbles (which you now can't do on Samsung s8), but I can't change my background (which I can do on the s8). Is there any plans to make this an option?
Update: I've been a pro user for well over a year now and I'm still absolutely in love with this app! You won't regret it. A friend of mine suggested Textra because I was lamenting the fact that I couldn't temporarily block an individual conversation so I wouldn't be notified of new texts from that person. Not only is the blacklist option phenomenal but the whole app is so smooth, clean, and speedy! I bought the pro version without hesitation when my trial period had ended. But if you don't want to pay I'm sure the ad version is just fine. :)
