About this game

ENYO is a tactical roguelike about hook & shield combat.

Grab your hook & shield and descent as Enyo, the greek goddess of war, into an ever changing labyrinth to recover 3 legendary artifacts.

ENYO's gameplay is based on the idea of indirect combat. Enemies can only be defeated by pushing or pulling them into burning lava pits or deadly spiked walls.

While staying accessible through the limited amount of actions a player can take, the core of ENYO are highly tactical turn based battles. To enter the highscore leaderboards for each of the 3 game modes you are tasked to master your weapons and create powerful chain combos through clever maneuvers.

This seems like a well designed game and all but I find myself more frustrated and bored rather than enjoying the game. Enemy AI is rudimentary and at times, inconsistent. In my first few tries, I found the controls a bit annoying, undershooting and overshooting with the shield and hook (felt like a bit of offset between my finger and the tiles). I quit at level 7 in standard, since each new enemy punishes you for not knowing their gimmick and forced me to die/take damage to learn.

I had to uninstall this game not even a full day after getting it. Not because it's not fun, mind you, it is quite fun, the combat feels very unique, lacking any ways to deal damage of your own, and thus having to manipulate and move the enemies into environmental hazards. The issue, however, is that it's too addictive. Because it's quite easy to die early on, and even when you get further on it doesn't take that long, it makes it far too easy to simply start another run, again and again.

Very cool and simple game! I do kinda wish the levels had less random maps, because I often get maps with lava stuck only on the sides, with walls blocking it off, in a staircase-ish pattern so I have to lose my skulls trying to get the guys where I can kill them, and the AI pathfinding kinda sucks, but I love the concept, and its really well designed!
