About this app

MulchCalc tells you how much mulch to buy for a garden bed, so gardeners and DIY landscapers order the right amount the first time.

• Measure rectangular, round or tree-ring beds, or enter a known area
• Set the layer depth and get the volume in cubic feet and cubic yards
• Pick mulch, compost, topsoil, sand or gravel to fill in a recommended depth and see where the figure comes from
• Add an extra percentage for settling and uneven ground
• Get the number of bags from your bag size, or the bulk order in yards
• Add several beds to one list and get a combined order with totals
• Enter prices to see whether bags or bulk is cheaper, how much you save and the break-even volume
• Switch to metric with meters, centimeters, liters and cubic meters
• Save named scenarios with notes for each bed and reload them later
