How does it work?
With our app it’s quick and easy. Imagine for a moment travelling from Birmingham to Leeds:

  • A return ticket costs £75.50*.

  • With TrainSplit you can buy a train ticket from Birmingham to Derby, another from Derby to Sheffield and finally one from Sheffield to Leeds, all for just £49.30.

  • A remarkable saving of £25.80!

  • What do I need to do?

    • Using TrainSplit is as speedy and simple as using any other train booking system.

    • Simply enter your journey plan and TrainSplit does the rest.

    • Our powerful search engine will find you the cheapest options available ready for you to make your booking.

    • Eligible for a National Railcard? Get your own inside the app in less than 2 minutes to benefit from even more savings on your travel. What's more is that we can automatically renew it for you. That's one less thing to worry about.

Will I have to get on and off the train?

    • Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the journey. Though you’ll have multiple tickets, you can stay onboard

    • If you have reserved seats, you may need to swap to another seat during your journey, unless you use our Seat Selector to reserve the same seat(s) throughout

Split Ticketing is approved under the National Rail conditions of carriage. For more information visit: https://trainsplit.com

*All fares quoted are Off-Peak (returning the same day) and accurate as of July 2023. Saving at peak times can be even greater.

EDIT: Aside from bike reservation, only issue is railcards, we have a 16-25 and 26-30 railcard, and it is impossible to book seats together. Best train ticket app out there. Reservation flow is simple and works a treat, and sometimes gives you significant savings through split ticketing, all with no fees, letting you use it for all your normal tickets too. Only downside is the lack of cycle reservations. The seat reservation + payment failure issue mentioned in other reviews has been resolved.

Thanks Oliver, we really appreicate you taking the time to leave a review and are glad you like the app. Cycle reservations are definitely on our to-do list and it's something we'd like to offer in the future

This app and website seems a lot smarter than another one I have previously used that also offers split ticketing. It also allowed me to choose my seats from a seating plan travelling on Avanti West Coast. Their very reasonable small fee for this service means that it is just not worth going to the extra bother of leaving the app to book the split journeys elsewhere separately to avoid the fee. Any split ticket is no risk on a direct train, but if changing trains, don't miss the connection!!!

Thanks for the kind words. FYI, splits are no risk on connecting trains either! You have all the same rights as a through ticket. :) Any Q's? Just get in touch and we'll answer them.

Yes it will save you a few quid! But you are completely screwed if one of your connections gets delayed and you're forced to take another route. The journey trainsplit sold me for £50 ended up costing over £300 because of a missed connection and because they are all split I can't even get delay repay from the train companies. I had to pay full price at the last minute for a different journey

Split tickets provide you *the same rights* under the Conditions of Travel as a through ticket. Additionally, you can claim delay repay on the *total price* of your split tickets. If you've had any issues, please contact our customer support directly so we can help you out: customer.support@trainsplit.com.

    What’s new

😌 You can now limit the maximum number of split tickets to use in our Advanced Options for a more straightforward journey. Keep in mind that changing this might limit the savings we can find you! 💸

🚌 Buying PlusBus? You can now see a map of your ticket's validity area.

🚉 We've also spruced up train diagrams in Live Times, adding names for each type of train under their carriage images.
