I did a simple test. I closed the udemy app, started driving using Google map, after 3 hours, udemy on background, doing absolutely nothing, consumed more power than the navigation app. Of course if you have a new phone with the latest android version, you can stop apps draining your phone's battery, but then you can download your courses. Besides, it is shaming that Udemy has such a low profile app.
Be careful when purchasing courses via mobile app. The price mentioned in app is different for every single course when compared to the website; I've a case open seeking explanation (696850) for this misleading information.
I really like the way this app is designed. I'd used this one and Udacity for different free courses. The way the Udacity class was presented was totally opaque and counter-intuitive, but Udemy worked how I wanted and expected it to work.
It is like democratizing education. Getting to learn from subject matter expert in the best possible manner. It is a win win situation for author and the students. My suggestion to Udemy is to provide optional online editor on the side for software courses.
Poor offline. It's really painful getting offline to work. The download keeps freezing and for some reason it insisted that it's not connected to the Wi-Fi when it definitely is.
Great platform if you can find good teachers. Some courses are deceiving because the sample is in plain English and then the course is taught by someone with a very strong accent that makes the course difficult to comprehend.
