Mosquito Shield turns your phone into a mosquito defence kit: an ultrasonic repellent, a sound-based detector, a personal bite diary, and prevention guidance you can act on tonight.

🔊 ULTRASONIC REPELLENT
Emit a continuous 8–22 kHz tone with a single tap. Pick the Low, Mid or High preset, or tune any frequency you like with the slider. The tone keeps running with the screen off, shows an ongoing notification with a Stop button, and pauses automatically for phone calls. Set an auto-off timer so it never runs down your battery overnight.

🎧 MOSQUITO DETECTOR
Point your microphone at the buzz. The detector listens for the 300–800 Hz wingbeat signature mosquitoes produce and reports live confidence plus the dominant frequency it hears — along with a genus hint (Anopheles, Culex, Aedes) and the diseases each can carry. It all runs on your device.

📊 DETECTION HISTORY
Every listening session is saved. See how many windows were analysed, how many came back positive, what happened in the last 24 hours, and which genus turned up most often.

🩹 BITE DIARY
Log bites as they happen and watch your daily and weekly totals build up. Export the whole diary to CSV and share it with anyone — handy if you are tracking a reaction or talking to a doctor.

A short list of the things that genuinely work, scored each day and reset every morning.

⏲️ REAPPLY REMINDER
Repellent wears off. Start a timer when you put it on and get a nudge when it is time to reapply.

Aedes and Anopheles bite hardest around sunrise and sunset. Optional nudges at 6 AM and 6 PM.

📚 PREVENTION & DISEASE GUIDES
Offline guidance on removing standing water, bed nets, EPA-approved repellents and window screens — plus what to know about dengue, malaria, Zika, chikungunya, West Nile and Japanese encephalitis.

📣 SIGHTING LOG
Record adult mosquitoes, breeding sites and bites with an optional area note and a photo. Saved on your device today; sharing with other people and the hotspot map are coming in a future update.

⚠️ AN HONEST NOTE ON ULTRASONIC REPELLING
Peer-reviewed studies have not found ultrasonic apps to reliably repel mosquitoes, and most phone speakers roll off above roughly 18 kHz. We say so inside the app too. Use the repellent alongside measures that are proven to work — nets, EPA-approved repellents and removing standing water — all covered in the Learn tab.
