This app is great! TTS integration fantastic! Up to this point I've just been reading my wapo subscription in my browser. This is way better! Great UI, no cursed ads (reading in the browser shows ads even when you buy a subscription). I love being able to use TTS to read the newspaper while I'm doing chores. I'm sure the visually impaired must appreciate this too. The New York times app does not have a similar feature as far as I have found. Great work wapo! And more importantly, great journalism! Keep it up!
One of the few redemptive things Jeff Bezos has done is to buy this paper and give the reporters free rein. Hard hitting, concise, accurate journalism at it's finest. I urge the courageous journalists to keep up the good work even in the face of threats from the Executive branch and the Justice department. History will exalt you. After all, democracy dies in darkness.
The app works well, everything opens quickly. The font is easy to read and it has a night mode. Since I read quite a bit in the late evening that is a feature I look for when I use a reading app. I wish I could find a setting in Facebook that would open the app when a news story is breaking. Instead, it takes me to Chrome. Some of the NY Times news on Facebook takes me to that app. I'm probably missing something in the settings. Anyway, it's a great app and the search function works well. Support is quick and very helpful. Thanks!
Washington Post is a great newspaper with reporters who do their research. But this is a review of the app. I really like the UI, it's very comfortable to use and never does anything weird or unexpected. The only thing missing is some sort of "top" function to return to the first headline. Minor quibble, it's a great way to read the WP online.
A few big improvements over previous app. However, that is one hideous, hideous icon, looks like some relic from Windows 95. Also the notification icon should be able to be dark as well for Marshmallow. The app does not really adhere to Material Design. The icon is an absolutely hideous reject from Windows 95. The notification icon does not have dark/light versions.
I've been trying this out instead of the NY Times, and really like that all stories show up as a feed, then taking on the article seamlessly opens it up to read, and continue to the next story. I've also come to really appreciate the breaking news notifications which give enough information to know whether to read the story or dismiss the notification. The news is excellent as well, with the Daily 202 being my go-to article to get a great overview of the news for the day. Living around DC I also appreciate that the subscription is cheaper with delivery.
