About this app

Whympr is the all-in-one app born in Chamonix to plan your outdoor outings anywhere in the world: hiking, ski touring, mountain biking, trail running, climbing, snowshoeing, and mountaineering. Official partner of the FFCAM, ENSA, ANENA, the Chamonix Guide Company, and SNAM, Whympr is also committed to 1% for the Planet: 1% of our revenue is donated to organizations that protect the environment.

-Thousands of hiking, climbing, and mountaineering routes at your fingertips
Discover over 100,000 routes worldwide from trusted sources such as Skitour and Camptocamp. You can also purchase professionally written routes by mountain experts like FranƧois Burnier (Vamos), Gilles Brunot (Ekiproc), and others, either individually or in packs.

-Filters tailored to your needs
Choose the perfect route based on your activity, skill level, and points of interest using our precise filters.

-3D maps enhanced with LiDAR technology
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) accurately measures the distance between the sensor and the ground, rocks, trees, or other objects. This data density allows fine visualization of topographical variations: ridges, crests, slope breaks, rock faces, or crevasses. LiDAR is available in France and most European countries.

-Numerous topographic maps, including IGN
Access a collection of topographic maps: IGN, SwissTopo, Fraternali, and about a dozen others, including the Whympr Outdoor map covering the entire world. You can also view slope gradients to better plan your outings.

-HD winter satellite map of Mont-Blanc
Get an HD winter satellite map of Mont-Blanc with the finest commercial resolution in the world—30 cm per pixel—offering near-real-life accuracy. Winter images are among the most recent, dating from February 2025. Other mountain ranges are currently being mapped.

-Complete mountain weather
Access mountain weather forecasts in partnership with Meteoblue: past conditions, predictions, freezing levels, and sunlight hours.

-Geolocated avalanche bulletins
Check BERA reports for France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, the United States, Canada, Scotland, Spain, and Andorra to easily assess avalanche risks.

-Route planning tool
Prepare your itinerary in detail: analyze distance and elevation gain before heading out.

-Offline access to routes
Download your routes to view them offline, even in the most remote locations.

-Global slope gradient layers
Access slope gradient layers with resolutions from 1 to 30 meters depending on the region (France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Spain, Germany). Compare IGN and SwissTopo, visualize slope, orientation, and flat areas.

-Over 23,000 webcams worldwide
Check conditions before you go, adjust your plan, adapt your gear, and spot potential hazards.

-Recent conditions feedback
View community trip reports and photos, as well as Data Avalanche info, to identify risks around you.

-Sync with Garmin, Suunto, and Apple Watch
Connect Whympr to your watch to have all your information directly on your wrist.

-Community of over 700,000 users
Share your adventures and keep track of recent on-site conditions.

-Augmented reality peak viewer
With Peak Viewer, discover the names, altitudes, and distances of the surrounding peaks in real time.

-Responsible outdoor filters
Enable the sensitive area filter to avoid protected zones and preserve wildlife and flora.

-Geolocate your photos and logbook
Add photos to the map and view your activity log to track your outings and all your statistics.

The umptienth iteration of the same rip-off scheme based on the same template, and as always, bleeding consumers dry ad infinitum with recurring subscription fees. You have to create an account before you are even being allowed to take a look at the GUI and functionality, so expect to receive 'special offers' afterwards. There are functionally superior competitor products that can be bought instead of rented, which replaced this milkingware that is now being uninstalled.

Hi Karsten, sorry you feel this way. 25€ a year for a the work we have put in this app over the last 6 years and all the work coming up. I'm sorry but I really don't think it is a rip off. Try to think of all the things you buy in a week and I'm sure you Whympr will be very low on your rip off list. Tim

I was looking for a Fatmap replacement. Sadly couldn't see any off piste tracks. The app pushes lots of pro paid for options, but none looked as good as Fatmap. Strava - Shame on you...

Whympr includes off-piste and ski touring routes from both professional guidebooks and free sources like SkiTour and C2C. Some content is paid due to professional authorship, while other itineraries remain free. If something felt missing, it’s likely related to filters or layers. We’re always open to constructive feedback to keep improving the app.

Nice 3d view, but rest is not working (yet?). Can't find my local trails in the Haute Tarentaise. Also filtering for rock climbing does not show much, only some big rocks with description in Spanish.
