About this app

Wisp is a private messenger built on the Signal Protocol. Every message, photo, file and call is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves your phone, and your keys never leave the device — our servers only ever relay ciphertext, so nobody at Wisp can read a thing. Message and call the people you care about, share photos and stories that expire on their own, and be reached by a username instead of your phone number. No ads, no trackers, no message data collection.

Privacy & encryption

- End-to-end encryption on every message, photo and file (Signal Protocol / libsignal)
- Servers relay ciphertext only — no readable messages, media or profile names

- Registration lock PIN — your number can't be registered elsewhere without it
- App screen lock with a PIN
- Hide screen in the app switcher
- Read receipts toggle (off means you neither send nor see them)
- Phone number discoverability: found by everybody or nobody

What’s new

Wisp can now find which of your contacts are already here — grant the contacts permission and they appear automatically. Only irreversible hashes of phone numbers ever leave your phone; names never do.
