Comfy is a minimalist launcher that replaces your Android home screen with a few big, clearly named tiles — just the apps and people you choose.
It feels like a dumb phone home screen: set it once and it stays that way, with your other apps one tap away in the app drawer. No wall of forty icons.
GUARDRAILS — KEEP THE PHONE THE WAY YOU SET IT
You set the home screen up just right — then a tile wanders, a setting changes, the ringer ends up off. Comfy Pro has a setting for each. Lock the launcher's own settings behind a 4-digit PIN. Freeze the layout so no tile can be added, moved or removed. Turn on the connection watch and it posts a notice on Home when the phone loses internet, turns on airplane mode or goes silent — its button restores the ringer when Android allows it. All three stay off until you turn them on — on your phone, or one you set up for family. Free for everyone: the launcher tells you on Home if it stops being your default home app.
WHAT COMFY DOES NOT DO
Comfy is a launcher only: your dialer, messages app and keyboard stay as they are. No account, nothing to sign in to. The launcher does not change your search engine or browser, does not read other apps' notifications, and does not sell your personal data.
HOME
Up top: the time, date and your local weather. The home screen never scrolls — the grid fits your screen, two or three apps per row. Tap an empty slot to add something; hold a tile to move, replace or remove it. You get three home screen pages with the free launcher, and swiping past the last offers more with Comfy Pro. Under the tiles, five tabs: Search, Apps, News, Settings and Phone.
ALL APPS AND SEARCH
Open the Apps tab for the launcher's drawer — the apps you can open, one tap from the home screen, sorted A to Z, by Recently installed or Used most often. The drawer has its own search box. The Search tab finds your apps and carries the same words to the web, by voice where your device allows.
PEOPLE AND GROUPS
Put people beside their apps: contact tiles sit in the same grid, and one tap opens the phone app with their number filled in — you place the call. Gather two to six apps under one name: the group opens on the home screen itself, not a separate window.
BIG TEXT AND COLOUR
A dumb phone launcher should be readable first. Pick Large or Extra large text. Start with four free themes — Light, High contrast, High contrast dark, or follow the system — and Comfy Pro adds eight more, like warm paper, sage and true black. Grey app icons go with any theme.
WEATHER
The weather on Home needs no location permission — the launcher reads your city from the phone's time zone. Open it for feels-like, the day's high and low, humidity, wind and 5 days ahead.
NEWS
Headlines for your region, with source and a short summary, refreshed through the day. They stay in the News tab — never on your home screen — and the tab cannot be turned off.
PHONE AND EMERGENCY
The Phone tab holds shortcuts into Android's settings: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile network, volume, battery and Do Not Disturb. An emergency button can sit on Home — off until you turn it on. It opens the phone app with your region's emergency number, or one you set, filled in. You place the call.
PERMISSIONS
Every permission is optional, asked only when you turn on the feature it serves. Contacts puts people on Home. Precise location sharpens the weather area. Notifications carry only Comfy's status messages. Used most often needs usage access, granted in Android's settings.
Comfy Pro unlocks the eight extra themes, more home screen pages and the three Guardrails — a yearly plan or a one-time purchase, managed in Google Play. Android 12 and newer, in 29 languages.
Set Comfy as your home app, keep the first page to what you use, and let the launcher hold it there. A minimalist dumb phone home screen for the phone you already own: big tiles, less clutter, a setup that stays put.
