The digital care management project Pneumo Adherence Technology is provided by InterMedCon of Marienkrankenhaus Kassel gGmbH in Kassel and its patients (insured with AOK Hessen) with chronic lung diseases as a digital platform to support medical, cross-sectoral treatment. The platform equips the patient with a spirometer (turbine-less technology based on micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS)), a Garmin Vivosmart 5 fitness smartwatch (measuring SpO2 and step count), and a patient app (Android, iOS), which the patient is to use at home or at work for regular lung function measurements. In addition, service providers at Marienkrankenhaus Kassel have access to the SpO2 and step count via the web portal to monitor the patient's oxygen saturation and physical fitness. The lung function data is securely transmitted (GDPR-compliant) to the licensee's physician portal for review by service providers for patient treatment. Furthermore, the patient has access to the InterMedCon call center for care and support.

As part of Pneumo Adherence, all participating patients are advised to consult their medical team immediately if they experience serious symptoms.
