I use Komoot to plan my local bike tours in Vancouver. I use my desktop to plan the tour, thenoad the saved tour on my phone when I'm ready to ride. Planning the trip is very sophisticated, and does require some practice. It helps to use google maps on street view to be sure trail entrances look good, or streets have good bike lanes. The vocal guide works well most of the time. Even trails are guided well. Sometimes it tells me to turn right on a trail I don't see immediately. But sure enough the trail does exist. Using this app with Bluetooth wireless and my phone attached to my bike, I'm able to ride uninterrupted, using my map a day guide hands free. Occasionally I'll invite a friend on my tour so we can synchronize our route together. I also trace my route using runtastic. It's a great combo to to use runtastic in conjunction with Komoot to track where I have traveled. Runtastic provides lots of stats about where I traveled. Koodos to Komoot.
The concept is great and such, just the app is a bit buggy. I added a new point on a route and it didnt uptdate the path. Had to restart it. Also the list of points should be seperated from the map. Maybe a pullup menu from the bottom ontop of the save and navigate button. Generally the route edotor seems a bit cluttered.
The phone app is OK, but really just another GPS. I was hopeful when I bought my Moto 360 sport with Wear 2 that the watch version of the app could navigate offline on its own, but it can't, it just provides a tethered second screen. So what's the point, there isn't any! Please Komoot develop the watch app to work stand alone - that's what both I and Google want.
Best bike navigation app on the market. Best price value. Crashed once but still recovered over 200 km track. Love it!
6 months ago I decided to install some 7 GPS logging apps on my smartphone, in order to find out which one is the best. It seems that Komoot tops the list..
Great app. The best navigational cycling app available by far!!
