Non-Contact Voltage tester via headset microphone.

1. Connect your wired earphone(with microphone).
2. Hold the microphone of the earphone as shown in photo.
3. When you bring the microphone hole closer to the voltage line, the app will gives warning.
*4. The sensitivity of the app and the warning level may differ depending on the phone and earphone.
5. If the app gives warnings for no reason, you can reduce the sensitivity level.

Ratings and reviews

Works fine with headphones as long as you can plug them into the 3.5mm jack on your phone. Hold the microphone close to the electric source and then select the sensitivity, and you're off! Great for free, but might as well just buy a cheap push button current detector that beeps for under $10.

This app tries to detect live wires using your phone's magnetic sensor or a wired headset mic. While the "science" is interesting for a DIY project, it’s far too inconsistent for real work. It often gives false negatives through thick insulation or false positives from static. Using a phone as a safety tool for electricity is risky; it’s fine for a quick "maybe" check, but never trust your life to it. Buy a $10 dedicated tester pen instead.

Update: I had commented that the app does nothing at all and deserves a -1 star. The devs replied that I had to give microphone permission. I gave microphone permission and I tried both the standard jack earbuds and the ones that use the C type charging port. Neither did anything at all on a known power outlet and power cord. Total scam app. I advise not to download as it could contain a virus. I did a cleanse of my Internet browsing cache and history and reset it in settings and so far ok. -1*
