California’s In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program, Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Solution for IHSS & WPCS Providers.

IHSS & WPCS providers will check-in at the beginning and check-out at the end of each work day for each IHSS/WPCS recipient they provide services for with simple easy to use screens. Providers are guided step-by-step to choose the recipient they are working for, if they would like to check-in or check-out, and select if they are in the home or in the community. Additionally, the app will conveniently add the provider’s hours to their IHSS Timesheet at the end of their workday. While the IHSS EVV app captures the start time, end time, and location of the visit using Location Services, it does not track the provider during the visit or at any other time. It simply takes a snapshot of the location when they check-in at the beginning and check-out at the end of each work day.

California’s IHSS EVV Solution is in full compliance with the 21st Century Cures Act Federal EVV requirements by capturing:
- The date, time, and location where the IHSS/WPCS services start,
- The name of the recipient,
- The date, time, and location where the IHSS/WPCS services end, and
- The location the visit ends.

California’s IHSS EVV Solution also allows for complete capturing of data when the user does not have internet connectivity. The IHSS EVV app will store the encrypted visit information and will transmit the data once the user has internet connectivity.

Ratings and reviews

The android version is terrible. My experience so far: navigating through the app, an error pops up when checking in or out. The background screen goes dark, error pops up, repeatedly tap ok as the pop-up comes back again and again and background screen gets brighter and brighter. And then when I check on a PC, sometimes it doesn't even register. I tried on iPhone and it works well from what I see. App needs fixing.

It's a bit of a nightmare. You have to log in every time you open the app. It's always throwing an error code. It doesn't keep track of hours & and minutes, so you have to calculate it yourself as well as remember the exact time you checked in and type it in, but so far everyday this week, 7/1-7/6, the app said i checked out but it didn't log it so I have had to log in on the website and log all the end times and durations.

Poor design! Stupid app, when it does work, it's just ridiculous! I thought that this was supposed to make everything easier and more streamlined. Fail! You have to check in and out which is fine but it says that it automatically puts your time in on your time sheet yet you still have to calculate your time yourself! I don't know about anyone else but I'm not necessarily going to remember the exact time I checked in to the minute. So calculating time is not going to be reliable.
