About this app

Simple UPnP Server turns your phone or tablet into a DLNA/UPnP media server for your home network — no cloud, no account, no ads. Stream your videos, music and photos straight to TVs and AV receivers on the same Wi-Fi.

▶ Media server
Designed to connect with as many DLNA-compatible devices as possible. TVs, game consoles and players (VLC, Kodi, PlayStation…) on the same Wi-Fi discover it automatically and browse and play your shared folders and on-device media (photos, music, video) directly, with seeking. Set a device name shown to clients, and optionally limit it to chosen Wi-Fi networks (e.g. only at home).

▶ Labels
Tag your media and browse it by label on your TV. Create smart labels just by typing a plain search — for example "2024 videos trip -mp4" — matching filename words, year or date range, media type and extension, with a live preview as you type. Or hand-pick files. Or turn a shared folder into a label: everything inside it, subfolders included, stays collected automatically as files are added. You can also bundle several labels into one group label that plays them in order. Each label becomes a virtual folder that gathers matching files wherever they are stored, sortable by name, date or size, and you can switch any label on or off. In the app, a grouped view shows the label list sorted by name under pinned group headers, and a "/" in a label name nests it deeper.

▶ Cast (beta) — your phone becomes the remote
The app doubles as a remote control (a UPnP control point): pick a TV, AV receiver or Kodi on your network and play your files on it directly. Labels play as playlists with automatic track advance, playback can be controlled from the lock screen and notification, and the hardware volume keys adjust the player's volume. You can also check several labels and play them together in order. Photos play as a slideshow with a configurable interval. With a player selected, the file list shows only what that player can play, and a mini player at the bottom of every tab controls each playing player — queue included. Tapping another file while a queue plays adds it to the end instead of interrupting, and the queue can be cleared any time. A tree view in the Files tab shows the exact folder tree players browse, so you can explore and play your library the same way your TV does.

▶ Media diagnostics
The Log tab shows what clients have actually fetched, with a thumbnail and badges for resolution, video/audio codec and the requesting player — handy for working out why a particular file won't play.

▶ Private by design
The server runs on Wi-Fi only and is never exposed over mobile data. The app collects nothing, contains no ads or trackers, and never sends your data off the device.

▶ Free version & Plus
The free version shares one source (a folder or the device's media). For the first 90 days after installation there is no file-count limit; afterwards up to 1000 each of images, audio and video. A one-time Plus purchase removes these limits. Labels are always unrestricted.

Data safety

Safety starts with understanding how developers collect and share your data. Data privacy and security practices may vary based on your use, region, and age. The developer provided this information and may update it over time.

What’s new

■ Cast
Player controls gain mute, shuffle and repeat. Each playing player's card now has a settings button and a "report a problem" link. A per-player "max cast volume" turns a too-loud player down before playback.

■ Library
Every label shows how many files it holds; one holding nothing is flagged.

■ Performance
The library is remembered between runs, so later starts show almost at once.

■ Stability
If the app closed on its own last time, the next launch says so. Theme-picker fixes.
