About this game

Party TV turns your television into the game board and everybody's phone into a controller.

Nobody installs anything. The TV shows a four-letter code and a QR code; players scan it, type a first name, and they are in. It works on any phone with a browser - iPhone, Android, old, new, or borrowed from whoever is standing nearest.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Open Party TV on your television. It shows a code.
2. Everyone points their phone camera at the QR code.
3. Pick a game. Play.

Up to twelve people can be in a room at once, and two can share one handset. Balance takes four on a single phone, so nobody sits out because their battery died.

TEN GAMES

Quiz - 1,548 questions across eleven categories. The fastest right answer scores most.
Scribble - Draw the word with your finger. The room shouts the answers.
Palermo - Night falls. The town has to work out who the Executioners are.
Balance - Take turns stacking shapes. The tower falls, everybody loses.
Curve - Steer a growing line. Touch anything at all and you are out.
Reaction - Wait for the green circle, then tap. Too soon and you are out.
Crack the Code - A hidden row of shapes. Take turns, and work it out together.
Odd One Out - A grid of shapes with one that does not belong. Find it, fast.
Pattern Train - A train of shapes with one carriage missing. What belongs there?
How Many? - A flash of dots, then they are gone. How many were there?

ENGLISH AND GREEK, PROPERLY

Every game plays in either language, and switching is one press - nobody loses their seat or retypes their name.

The quiz is not a translated quiz. Alongside Geography, Science, History and Nature there are rounds written for this audience: Greek History, Greece and Cyprus, Greek Customs, Greek Music, Greek Film and TV, Greek Sport, and the Greek Language.

BUILT FOR A ROOM WITH PEOPLE IN IT

Difficulty per player. In the children's games each seat picks its own level, so a five-year-old and a nine-year-old can play the same round without one of them being bored and the other lost. The easiest games start at age four.

Share a phone. Two players fit on one handset, four in Balance.

Come back mid-match. A phone that locks, drops off the wifi or gets handed to somebody else returns to the same seat, still in the game.

Change game without breaking up the room. Pick something else between rounds and everybody keeps their seat and their name. No rescanning, no retyping.

Tilt, or don't. Games that use motion also play with the on-screen buttons, and the phone remembers which you prefer.

Nothing to sign up for. No account, no email, no password, and no ads. A player types a first name, and that is everything the game ever knows about them.

WHAT YOU NEED

A television running this app, on wifi.
A phone for each player, or one between two, with any modern browser.
