About this app

WHAT IS OPENVPN CONNECT?
OpenVPN Connect is the official OpenVPN client app developed by OpenVPN Inc., the creators of the OpenVPN® protocol. Designed for use with OpenVPN’s zero-trust business VPN solutions, this app enables secure remote access to internal networks, cloud resources, and private applications. A zero-trust VPN is a virtual private network that requires continuous identity and device verification for every access request, adhering to the principle of 'never trust, always verify,' regardless of the user's location.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
This app does NOT include a built-in VPN service. It establishes an OpenVPN tunnel to a VPN server or service that is compatible with the OpenVPN protocol. It is meant for use with OpenVPN’s business Zero-trust VPN solutions:

It gets the job done. One issue is the length of time it takes for the phone to reconnect to the server when switching between wifi and cellular. Also, on my Galaxy S8, if I disconnect the VPN and then try to launch the app it sticks at the main OpenVPN screen. If I close that and launch the app a second time it works fine. It does that all the time. I haven't encountered this on my wife's Galaxy S7 though.

There is one major problem... And it just keeps getting worse with every release... the "seamless tunnel" option does not work as advertised. It will "leak" under certain circumstances. The connection will get dropped when the phone or device goes to sleep and it will continue to allow communications outside the secure tunnel. Sometimes it will even randomly drop the VPN connection while you are actually using the device. Not trustworthy at all.

Used to work great, but I keep getting an error (often when switching from cellular to WiFi or vice-versa) that the app can't get permissions for a VPN, but launching it from a shortcut works fine despite the error still showing. I have to reset the app to get it to hide the message, which means I then have to set up my VPN connection again.
