Simple to use map based application visualizing real time full area lightning data provided by the blitzortung.org lightning location network project. The current thunderstorm situation at your fingertips.

The raster display ensures a fast performance of the application even if there is a very high thunderstorm activity. Blitzortung.org participants can visualize all stroke locations individually.

Using the GPS location provider in combination with the background service can lead to high battery use. Please use the network or the passive location provider for background operation.

Ratings and reviews

The app currently is great. I use it to track lightning in storms when I storm chase. Learning the minute key isn't very hard. Once you use it a bit it becomes easier to understand what type of lighting storm your dealing with when understanding the numbers and size of storm. It's a great app overall and I would recommend that storm chasers use it. Now it only tracks lightning, so there's no other radar settings than the lighting radar.

Using alongside AccuWeather since they don't have alerts for lightning (sad only 5 lightning apps and possibly dozens of weather apps). Pretty cool how a monitor is on the lock screen when within range of choice then sound notifications for another range. Useful for shopping cart retrievers (like me) so when monitor activates means hurry up with the carts if distance is closing and signal means get inside. Once outside of signal safe to go back out. I have monitor 25 miles and signal 10 miles.

This is the first killer app that I have seen in a long time. I have lost a lot of equipment and thousands of dollars due to nearby lightning strikes. This app gives me an alert and sufficient time to shut down my equipment before I can even hear the first rumbles of thunder. The app itself is great, completely intuitive and everything that apps should be. Hats off to the developers. A perfect 5.0 app.
