Simple Keyboard has a good customizable layout. To access settings, long press the comma key. It has no dedicated voice to text key option, no spell checker, but for people who don't want those options, it's a good keyboard that types smoothly. It doesn't harvest or share data, and that's a top priority for me. The app doesn't take up much memory space. Clean non-fussy layout. For writers who need help with spelling, keep a dictionary handy.

I was looking for a keyboard that would just let me type and not automatically insert "corrections" or offer options to distract me while I am working. This app is very polite, only highliting typos in red and allowing me to choose a correction. I get to do my own spacing, punctuation and capitalization. The setup choices are useful. Having long touch characters clearly visible and an optional number line lets me stay on the main board. This app doesn't think its smarter than me, I like that!

Perfect for a lightweight low RAM phone, or if you just want a smooth typing experience. Its only functional shortcomings are 1. a lack of emoji access (no suggestiona strip or dictionary) and, most importantly, 2. a lack of clipboard. While one can do without the former, a clipboard can be essential while using a phone. I find myself switching keyboard apps just so I dont lose notes. Therefore even a small clipboard (3-5 items, no screenshots) would greatly enhance this lightweight app.
