About this app

Noise monitoring and decibel meter that records every sound event while you sleep. Leave a phone plugged in, tap Start, and wake up to a full report of what happened overnight.

HOW IT WORKS

TAPAGE measures sound levels every second and learns the normal background on its own. When something rises above it, the app saves a recording with calibrated decibel readings. No manual setup, no threshold to guess.

Check in the morning. You get a list of every event: when it happened, how loud, how long, and what it sounded like.

WHAT YOU GET

A timeline of every noise event with dB readings and audio you can play back. A calendar that shows which nights were quiet and which were not. After a few days you start seeing the pattern.

Export a CSV or share recordings when you need to talk to your neighbour, landlord, or building manager.

AUTOMATIC SOUND CLASSIFICATION

TAPAGE identifies what kind of noise it was: music, impacts, barking, voices, and more. Everything runs on your phone, nothing is sent anywhere. It also scores how much a sound looks like it travelled through a wall, from its low-frequency signature.

TEACH IT THE SOUND YOU CARE ABOUT

Mark the noise you are tracking, such as a door, footsteps, or bass through the wall, and save it as a sound example. TAPAGE then ranks every other event by how close it is to what you marked. The more examples you save, the sharper the ranking gets.

REVIEW A NIGHT IN MINUTES

Go through a night one clip at a time instead of scrolling a list. The app's own guess stays hidden until you answer, so you judge what you hear rather than what you were told. Answering deletes nothing and keeps nothing. It only records what you heard.

AUDIO HOURS

Choose the hours worth keeping audio for. Levels are still measured around the clock, so nothing goes unmeasured. The hours only decide which events get a recording attached, which means less to listen to in the morning and less storage used.

SPEECH OBFUSCATION

Anything you share or export leaves with its speech scrambled first. You can prove the bass was thumping at 2 AM without passing on a word anyone said.

CALIBRATED MEASUREMENTS

Sound metering follows the IEC 61672-1 standard, the same spec used in professional sound level meters. Lossless FLAC recording. 10-band microphone calibration corrects for your phone's frequency response. External USB mic support. Other apps tell you to "go to a quiet room and adjust." TAPAGE calibrates per octave band.

RUNS ALL NIGHT, EVERY NIGHT

Background service, screen off, phone plugged in. Other noise apps crash after a few hours or stop when the screen turns off. TAPAGE uses a foreground service with wake lock and restarts automatically if Android kills it. Only saves when something happens. Works with Android phones from 2017 onward.

What’s new

Moving between screens is faster, and the app stays smooth while it records.

If another app is using the microphone, Tapage now says so and tries again on its own. Calibration reports it too.

Sounds outside your watch hours no longer count against the free hour, and the watch hours can be set back to all day.

Detection keeps running while the app saves its data. Deleting all data no longer removes the session in progress.
