About this app

Translation that works with no signal: on a plane, in a subway, abroad without data, in a basement. No account, no ads, no subscription — every feature is unlocked.

📴 "AM I READY TO GO OFFLINE?" — THIS IS THE PART NOBODY ELSE DOES
The word "offline" hides three separate things: the translation model lives in the app, but speech recognition and the reading voice belong to Android, and each needs its own download. People only find out something is missing once the plane doors close — exactly when they can no longer fix it.

Version 1.3.0 adds a readiness screen that answers the question in advance, for the language pair you actually use:
• Whether both translation packs are downloaded
• Whether the phone has a reading voice for your target language — if not, it opens the system voice installer
• Whether on-device speech recognition has its pack — on Android 13+ you can download it right there
• Text from photos: built into the app, always offline

Anything the operating system will not let an app ask about says "couldn't read this" instead of guessing. And when you genuinely have no signal, the microphone now asks for on-device recognition instead of trying the network and failing with a vague error.

🔊 IT CAN READ SLOWER
Speech speed from 0.5× to 1.5×, with a sample to listen to while you drag the slider. Long-press the speaker button to open it. This matters when you are learning the language, or handing the phone to a native speaker while the default voice races through the sentence.

📷 CAMERA TRANSLATION THAT KEEPS THE LAYOUT
• Point at a menu, a road sign, a medicine label
• The translation is drawn over the words in the picture, so a menu still looks like a menu
• Save or share the result; photos already in your gallery work too

⌨️ TYPE, PASTE, SPEAK
• Translates as you type, with no character limit
• Speak into the microphone instead of typing
• Receives text from other apps via the share sheet and the text-selection menu
• Home screen widget and Quick Settings tile

💬 TWO-WAY CONVERSATION
A split screen for two people facing each other, reading each reply out loud. The translation itself runs on the device, with no connection.

📄 FILE TRANSLATION
Pick a .txt, .srt or .vtt and get it back translated, with subtitle numbering and timings untouched.

📚 PHRASEBOOK AND HISTORY
Pin the sentences you use often, search them, and keep them out of the history that clears itself.

🌍 15 LANGUAGES
Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Thai, Indonesian, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Italian. Download a pack once and every pair works offline forever. Automatic language detection included.

• Translation runs on the device — your text and photos never leave the phone
• No account, no ads
• Anonymous crash reporting has an off switch inside the app
• Three permissions: internet (to fetch packs), network state, camera

NOTES
• Text recognition in this version reads Latin script; Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Thai are not included yet.
• Speech recognition and the reading voice are Android services, not part of this app — the readiness screen tells you exactly what your phone is missing.

What’s new

v1.3.0 — the three things translator users complain about most, fixed.

• Speech speed control, 0.5×–1.5×, with a sample to listen to. Long-press the speaker button.
• "Am I ready to go offline?" — checks the translation packs, reading voice, voice input and OCR for your language pair, and says what is missing. With no signal the microphone now asks for on-device recognition.
• Downloads: if "Wi-Fi only" is on while you are on mobile data, it asks first instead of spinning forever.
