ನನ್ನ ಹುಟ್ಟೂರು ಮುಳಬಾಗಿಲು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಶ್ರೀಮದಾಂಜನೇಯಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾದದ್ದು. ವರ್ಷದ ೩೬೦ ದಿನವೂ ಆ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗೆ ಕೇತಕೀ ಪುಷ್ಪ (ತಾಳೆಯ) ಪೂಜೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅದರ ನಿರ್ಮಾಲ್ಯದ ತಾಳೆ ರೇಕನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸಾದವೆಂದು ರೋಗಾಧಿ ಪೀಡಿತರ ತಲೆದಿಂಬಿನ ಕೆಳಗಿಡುವುದು ವಾಡಿಕೆ. ಅದು ರಕ್ಷೆಯೆಂದು ನಂಬಿಕೆ. ಇಂಥಾದ್ದು ಕೇತಕೀ (ಕೇದಗೆ=ತಾಳೆ). ನನಗೆ ಓದಲಿಕ್ಕೂ ಯೋಚಿಸಲಿಕ್ಕೂ ಕೊಂಚ-ಕೊಂಚವಾಗಿಯಾದರೂ ಬಿಡುವು ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲವೊಂದಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಾಗ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಭಾವನೆಗಳು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದದ್ದೂ ಉಂಟು. ಅವು ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವು ಹಾರಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುನ್ನ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಗ ತೋಚಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಆಗ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಚೀಟಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಗುರುತುಹಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದದ್ದುಂಟು. ಅಂಥ ಚೀಟಿಗಳು ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕವಾಗಿವೆ. ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿನ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿರುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವಾಗಿದೆ.
