「中央政治會議」是1924年國民黨改組時期的產物。改組前，國民黨的組織採總理制，孫中山是不二的黨魁；改組後取委員制，仿俄共中央政治局的模式，建立一個核心、人少的中政會，以為運作靈活的決策中樞。
1926年，國民黨中全會通過〈政治委員會組織條例〉，同意在重要地方可設立地方分會。1928年，決定設置廣州、武漢、開封、太原四個政治分會，由李濟深、李宗仁、馮玉祥、閻錫山分任主席。中政會是國民黨中央執行委員會特設的政治指導機關，其決議由中執會交國民政府執行，地方分會則秉承中政會的決定，在特定地區內有指導、監督該地最高政府之權力。
本書收錄中政會武漢分會1-49次會議紀錄，概見武漢地區1928-1929年間政治變動情形。
