안네는 은신 직전인 13번째 생일에 선물 받은 일기장에 은신 생활을 기록했다. 경험하면서 느낀 감정과 생각은 물론이고 소설도 담았다. 살아남은 안네의 아버지가 일부 보존된 일기를 읽었고, 작가나 저널리스트가 되고 싶어 한 딸을 위해 1947년에 일기를 출판했다. 이 책은 나중에 약 70개의 언어로 번역되었다. 1960년, 안네의 은신처는 ‘안네 프랑크의 집’이라는 박물관으로 바뀌었다.

About the author
Annelies Marie Frank. 1929년 독일 프랑크푸르트에서 태어났다. 반유대주의로 인해 네덜란드 암스테르담으로 거처를 옮겼다. 1939년, 제2차 세계대전이 발발하면서 나치는 네덜란드를 침공했다. 이 때문에 유대인 박해가 시작되었고, 안네의 가족은 1942년부터 2년 동안 은신처에서 생활했다. 1944년, 은신처가 발각되면서 체포되어 아우슈비츠 강제수용소로 이송되었다. 1945년, 수용소에서 장티푸스에 걸려 사망했다.
