“대감마님께서 오늘부터 제게 도련님을 모시라고 했습니다.”
“그래? 얼마나 나를 잘 모시는지 지켜봐야겠네.”
“도련님, 쇤네가 궁금한 것이 있는데…”
밤이 되어 잠자리에 누우려는 그를 지켜보며 일부러 말끝을 흐렸다.
종일 하나부터 열까지 귀찮은 것만 줄줄이 시키던 그가 이불 위에 앉아 빤히 쳐다봤다. 초롱초롱한 눈이 심심하던 참에 잘 되었다고 말하는 것처럼 보였다.
“그래, 너처럼 천한 것들일수록 궁금한 게 많은 법이지. 뭐가 궁금한 것이냐?”
오늘 제대로 그를 혼내줄 차례였다.
