About the author

Athina Lazakidou currently works at the Department of Economics at the University of Peloponnese in Greece as an Assistant Professor of Health Informatics. She worked as a Lecturer and as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Nursing at the University of Peloponnese (2008-2015) and as a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus (2000-2002). She did her undergraduate studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business (Greece) and received her BSc in Computer Science in 1996. In 2000, she received her Ph.D. in Medical Informatics from the Department of Medical Informatics, University Hospital Benjamin Franklin at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. She is also an internationally known expert in the field of computer applications in health care and biomedicine, with six books and numerous papers to her credit. She was also Editor of the “Handbook of Research on Informatics in Healthcare and Biomedicine” and “Handbook of Research on Distributed Medical Informatics and E-Health”, the best authoritative reference sources for information on the newest trends and breakthroughs in computer applications applied to health care and biomedicine. Her research interests include health informatics, databases, clinical decision support systems, hospital and clinical information systems, elect

ronic medical record systems, collaborative systems, web-based applications in health care and other areas.

Stelios Zimeras was born in Piraeus, Greece. He received his B.Sc. in Statistics from University of Piraeus, Depart. of Statistics and Insurance Sciences, and his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Statistics from University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. Research productivity is summarized in various articles (monographs or in collaboration with other researchers) in International Journals, International Conference Proceedings, International Book Series and International Book Chapters. Since

2008 he is Assistant Professor at the University of the Aegean, Depart. of Statistics and Actuarial – Financial Mathematics. He has participated in many Research Projects in Greece and in European Union. He is the writer of many papers in the areas of Informatics and Statistics.

Dimitra Iliopoulou received a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She graduated in 2001 from the National Technical University in 2009 and received her Ph.D. from the Department of Biomedical Technology, where she continues today to be employed as metadidaktoriki partner. Her professional experience consists in computing and telecommunications as well has worked with companies that had as their object these areas (Multimedia SA - D.O.L., Bull ATS, Datamed, Omnis M.). At the same time she has extensive experience in the application of information and telecommunicati

ons in health, has participated in the implementation team of European and Greek research program on the application of various technologies in health.

Dionysios-Dimitris Koutsouris was born in Serres, Greece, in 1955. He received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1978 in Greece, DEA in Biomechanics in 1979 in France, Ph.D. degree in Genie Biologie Medicale in France and the Doctorat d' Etat in Biomedical Engineering in 1984 in France. Since 1986 he was research associated on the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and the Renè Dèscartes in Paris, France. He is currently a professor of Biomedical Engineering and Chairman in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of National Technical University of Athens, Greece. He has published over 100 research articles and book chapters and more than 150 conference communications. Dr. Koutsouris is a member of many honorary and professional societies and is currently the president of the Greek Society of Biomedical Technology.
