About this ebook

Can a fierce and magnificent lion unite two lovers torn apart by deception and regret? When spirited Charlotte Treloar's impetuous elopement ends in disaster, she’s rescued by dashing Jasper Creighton.

Jasper's wit and charm are such delightful contrasts to her erstwhile suitor's smug arrogance, that Charlotte endeavours to entice him into her bed, curious to experience the pleasures of marriage.

But Jasper, determined to wed a virtuous bride, returns her to Miss Prism's Ladies Seminary, agreeing to grant her second greatest wish: to introduce her to Master Edward, the majestic lion at the Regent's Menagerie.

Three years later, Jasper discovers Charlotte is about to wed the cruel hunter, Lord Collingwood.

On his way to prevent the marriage, Jasper is waylaid by an unexpected opportunity: the chance to wreak vengeance on an old adversary.

Will he be too late?

Realising his mistakes, Jasper enlists the help of an unlikely ally—Master Edward himself—setting in motion a plan with unexpected consequences that will change their lives forever.

In this steamy Regency romance of second chances, a resolute heroine and a stubborn hero must risk everything to realize the true value of love.

This is almost a saga, following young Charlotte and various individuals interested in her fate, over several years. The dour Mrs Henley plays a role as do the Leesons from An Unsuitable Alliance. There's a side thread of Jasper's pining for his late fiancée and his thirst for revenge on her brother's killer, which finds an unexpected conclusion. The author has cast an aura of tension, keeping the reader anxious for Charlotte. This is not a straightforward HEA story, but leaves the reader hopeful. I very much enjoyed this story. I love the fact that they went back and explained some of the backstory for both of the main characters. I am hoping that there is more to this story. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There is a great many twists in this one. There is a happy ending of sorts in this book you will understand what I mean when you read it. It is a story of a mother and daughter who are very similar in outlook and that cause problems in both of their lives. You have a terrible cruel woman that again affects both of the ladies. It is a tangled mess of a tale that was such a good and captivating read.
