Clive Barker nació el 5 de octubre de 1952 cerca de Penny Lane, Liverpool. Estudió Literatura y Inglesa y Filosofía en la universidad de Liverpool y después se mudó a Londres, donde formó una compañía de teatro underground. Además de su faceta literaria, por la que ha sido merecedor del título World Horror Grandmaster, Clive Barker ha destacado como ilustrador y como director y guionista de cine, siendo el padre de películas de culto como Hellraiser o Candyman.
