I'm an avid fan of Regency novels, and although this book is anachronistic in many places, the two protagonists are utterly compelling. The heroine is an interesting twist on the usual virginal love interest, and the hero is flawed but very sympathetic. I had never read anything by this author before, and started reading this book a bit skeptically, but found myself completely hooked as the plot unfurled. There is a psychological darkness here that is deeper than in many historical romance novels, reminding me of some of Jayne Ann Krentz's early books. Kudos to this writer for trying something outside the normal mold for this genre. I would happily read another of her books!

Loved that the main gal was a badass. And loved the romance in it so passionate and very sweet. Really good read!
