About this ebook

On the smugglers' coast, sparks will fly!

Poppy St George's sharp tongue has done nothing for her except find trouble. When her dearest friend and childhood companion marries, she is suddenly alone and adrift in a society that prefers ladies to be meek and mild. Poppy seizes a chance to escape her melancholy by summering on the Cornish coast, never dreaming she will come face-to-face with a particular gentleman from her past, a man she secretly loved before he broke her heart.

Carlos de la Guerra is a man who has always chosen duty over desire. He always knew Poppy was special, but he lost his chance to court her when he had to defend his family’s interests abroad. Now he has returned to England, and Carlos is determined to correct his mistake, if only Poppy will let him.

Just as the two are brought together again, they are drawn into an intriguing and dangerous mystery that threatens them both. Caught between smugglers and social climbers, Carlos and Poppy discover that the course of true love never runs smooth...

The Wallflowers of Wildwood series follows five young women as they leave their beloved boarding school and venture out into the cutthroat world of the marriage mart. Get ready, London. These wallflowers are wilder than you think!

This review is of Poppy and the Pirate, the fourth book in the Wallflowers of Wildwood series by Elizabeth Cole. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book was an absolute delight to read! Poppy St George is not your average Lady. In Society’s definition of the word, she isn’t strictly a Lady since her step-father is in trade. But more than that, Poppy is smart, curious, outspoken, and always ready to help whomever needs it. And Mr. de la Guerra is not the average man in Society. So it’s a good thing they are at a house party where the different social classes can mingle easier. Together they make this story one you won’t want to put down. I loved the dialog between the two and how they played off each other. You learn enough about the other characters to understand them, but not so much that you get bogged down. The descriptions of the locale adds to the story and mystery. I could feel myself in the caves. This had everything you want in a good book: great characters, good locations, good story line. And what I also like a little mystery and romance. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did and end up checking out the rest of the author’s books.

A year ago, when he called away on urgent family business, she was hurt that he didn’t say goodbye. She hasn’t heard from him since. Now Poppy and Carlos find themselves at the Towers’ house party on the Cornish coast. She tries to ignore him, but fate has different ideas. Will these two be able to patch up? Will they have a second chance? This exciting story has everything, a page turning story with a dangerous mystery, murder, smugglers, secret caves, jealous debutantes (these can be dangerous, too), and, of course, a wonderful HEA. Carlos is a strong character, protective and loyal. Poppy is smart and outspoken, and too curious for her own good. The villains are dastardly. I love the descriptions of the cave network, a little scary – just ask Carlos. An exhilarating story and great characters. An enjoyable story and series. I recommend both. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
