About this ebook

 Full-Length Paranormal Romance

Beware of slayers in sheep’s clothing.

Maryann “Ryan” Mackenzie was raised to be the perfect mate to a powerful alpha male, with the sole purpose of helping him resist his dark side. What better way to fight darkness than to make her emulate all that is goodness and light? That was before everything she loved was taken away from her. Sweet Maryann is dead and Ryan has emerged from her ashes, a slayer with one final task to complete. The last thing she needs is a hunky new Guardian getting in her way.

Alpha male shifter Hudson Carver is many things, but a glorified babysitter isn’t one of them. When he’s summoned to take on a new charge, he’s less than pleased. She may be a slayer, but there’s a reason he’s been assigned as her Guardian. She’s got a whole heap of evil on her trail and he isn’t about to let one hair on her head be harmed—especially when he realizes who she is to him. His mate.

Genre: urban fantasy, paranormal romance, shifter romance, wolf-shifter, fae, magic, dark, urban, hea, kick butt chick, vampire

I enjoyed this book. I read a lot of paranormal romance and this was one of the better ones. There were a few points that became confusing. Such as when Gabriel and Franco did the two separate flash backs. During each the descriptions of the visions was a little choppy and confusing. I had to reread them both. The connections shown between Gabriel, Madelyn, Franco, Hudson and Bradonis were developed in this book to give a great set up for future books. What I am still confused about is why Mads cannot detect Lycans. That explanation was not fully given. I most enjoyed the relationship between Brady and Madelyn, even though as King of the Lycans the author made him a little wimpy. I cannot wait to read the sequel.

I was recently asked to name my favorite Mandy Roth book. I can only answer by saying the one I'm reading. Each time I think I have a favorite I read a new book and can't decide. One thing I do know--each book will be a winner. Crossing Hudson is no exception. I loved book one where Maddie gets her man. In book 2, Ryan has given up getting her man. For her it is more than heart break or a yearning for love and family--it is life it self. Yes, Ryan is the chosen one to be a mate to the head guardian and keep him from the dark side, but he has not come to her so she can do what was intended. Hudson is sent to protect Ryan from the hoard of evil after her. Neither is happy with the situation, until Hudson realizes who Ryan is to him. He can't tell her, and not only is he fighting those who would harm her, he is fighting her. She is independent and determined she can do it herself. While she is strong and fierce the evil after her is powerful and more than any one can handle. Can Hudson save and protect her? How can they get over the past that has hurt them both and the interference from the Powers That Be? She has a group of loyal, kick butt friends who fight as well. Will they allow anyone close to Ryan? The relationships are touching and sometimes funny and snarky but always loyal and people you'd want around you in a situation.

I read the 1st book in the series a while ago and it was really good, so when I got this one I figured it would be just as good. I was wrong, it wasn't just as good, it was awesome! There was just enough to make you think, but not so much that you spent all your time figuring things out and not enjoying the story. I very rarely re read books, but I will re read this one. I hope there's another book in this series, it was that great!

About the author

NY Times & USA Today Bestselling Author Mandy M. Roth grew up fascinated by creatures that go bump in the night. From the very beginning, she showed signs of creativity--writing, painting, telling scary stories that left her little brother afraid to come out from under his bed. Combining her creativity with her passion for the paranormal has left her banging on the keyboard into the wee hours of the night.

Mandy loves 80s music and movies and wishes leg warmers would come back into fashion. She also thinks the movie The Breakfast Club should be mandatory viewing for... okay, everyone. When she's not dancing around her office to the sounds of the 80s or writing books she can be found designing book covers for NY publishers, small press and indie authors.
