About the author
Massimo Pittau (Nuoro, 6 febbraio 1921) è un linguista e glottologo italiano, studioso della lingua etrusca, della lingua sarda e protosarda. Ha pubblicato numerosi studi sulla civiltà nuragica e sulla Sardegna storica. Le sue posizioni riguardo al dialetto nuorese (massima conservatività nell’ambito romanzo) sono vicine a quelle del linguista Max Leopold Wagner con cui è stato in rapporto epistolare. Nel 1971 è entrato a far parte della Società Italiana di Glottologia e circa 10 anni dopo nel Sodalizio Glottologico Milanese. Per le sue opere ha ottenuto numerosi premi.
