Protection and sanctuary come in the form of a strong, attractive, taciturn man. Jacob has the love of his family, but choses to exist in a state of isolation. However, when Phoebe and her daughter become his to protect, he opens his heart to them in ways he didn't think possible.

Beautifully written story about love, loss, healing, acceptance and finding the one whose weirdness perfectly fits your own. Jacob Hart is damaged and closed off thanks to his awful past. Only his family, the ones he found and chose, can get close. He's still a protector though, a saviour of abused horses and all around gorgeous Cowboy. When his brother asks him to help a woman on the run and her sweet but scared daughter, he's smitten. Phoebe and her fabulous daughter Annie are equally damaged by their past, but this story is full of all the feels, emotions, love, laughter and a building of trust between people who just get each other, no judgement. It wasnt an easy journey for any of them, but it felt so real and wonderfully written. The Harts have an incredible bond and I love how they all support and defend each other no matter what. I loved this addition to the series and look forward to more.

Jacob Hart feels broken inside. He wants to be alone. His animals need him and vice versa until he helps a woman (Phoebe )and her daughter (Annie). He understands the daughter's pain. And he wants to help her to heal. He falls fast for Phoebe and Phoebe just wants to run thinking she's better off on her own with an enemy she's never seen. This was a very good book . Very heart felt.
