Should have been better This was quite good but missed the mark in some ways. This Beauty and the Beast retelling has a paranormal element that didn't really work for me. Also I had little interest in the self-centred main characters. I found them both pretty one-dimensional. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the first book in a series about the same woman and her adventures as a Supplicant. Happy For Now Ending. Charisse has not had a lot of love in her life. The love she has she losses. Now back home after years away her life has gone crazy. Her new boss is hot but turns into a beast. Her beat friends little brother is a love interest too. But something on this town is killing women that look like her. Is she next? Who is safe and who is a killer? This book sucks you in.

Taken by the Beast took me on quite the ride. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the main character, Char, and get complete ineptitude with a toddler. Then I found myself bolstered by her feisty outlook and amused by her interactions with other people. As the story gained speed, it was one emotion after another; it's a nonstop roller coaster ride from scene to scene. I enjoyed the journey.
