Shirley Philbrick has been a Maine licensed, practicing massage therapist since 2001. Beyond standard massage, she is skilled in trigger point therapy, reflexology, aromatherapy and many other bodywork techniques. Ms.Philbrick holds further certification in newborn massage, and is a Reiki Master. She works with a local massage therapy school teaching aromatherapy classes each year and has maintained, simultaneously, a home-based massage practice and a separate massage office location. She has also provided on-site massage therapy for community medical facilities, schools and for private clients and has had the honor of being a sports massage therapist for two state of Maine race events: one being the Komen Race for the Cure. Ms.Philbrick is a long-standing member of the Associated Bodywork Massage Professionals organization.
Her writing experience began when she started her massage practice and began sending newsletters to clients to educate and keep them up to date on business happenings. In 2008, Ms.Philbrick began writing for eHow.com to more effectively communicate with clients through e-newsletters and article links versus snail mail. Her work there evolved from writing predominantly about massage and other health related topics to writing about an assortment of subjects.
Between 2008-10, she became a contributing writer for not only eHow.com, but also Suite101, Demand Studios and several lesser known content websites. (All current publishing for eHow.com is through its sister site: Demand Studios). To date, she has approximately 400 articles published online under her own name and the pseudonym, Leigh White. Because of Ms.Philbrick's tenure as a freelance writer, she has developed a strong working knowledge of SEO which allows much of her published work online to rank well in search engines.
