So glad I read this!! Initially, I had a hard time getting into this story. The vocabulary and cultural differences were difficult for me to understand and follow. However, I googled my way through when I could and pushed on until…wow! I am so glad I did. This was a story that had every emotion imaginable. I was laughing one moment then deeply saddened the next. This is a dark story that is laced with enough light to make it all the more endearing.

I enjoyed this book very much! nicely navigated heavy but important topics while staying a light and fun read.

Great read though I wished the author was generous enough to some explanation on what is and what's that relating to Indian culture and/ or words

Parini Shroff received her MFA from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied under Elizabeth McCracken, Alexander Chee, and Cristina García. She is a practicing attorney and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Bandit Queens is her debut novel.
