5 Star Review Initiation by Sierra Cartwright I loved Hawkeye agent Logan Powell and the woman who captured his attention Jennifer Berklee’ story. From the first chapter to the last I was invested in the story that Ms. Cartwright wove. Logan has avoided relationships until he sets eyes on Jennifer, there is something about her that calls to his soul and he feels a deep connection. However Jennifer has been burnt, having recently been left at the altar. When fate puts these two together, walls will crumble and they quickly become invested in both an emotional and BDSM relationship. When danger puts Logan’s life at risk will it tear them apart or bring them together. I loved the push and pull of the relationship, the sexual tension built until it threatened to explode. The chemistry between them was off the charts and I really enjoyed how their relationship developed. much they challenged each other both in and out of the bedroom. Over the last 12 months I have found myself gravitating to the romantic suspense genre and in my humble opinion Sierra Cartwight’s Hawkeye series is a fine example. Throw in the fact that it also contains BDSM and I am all in.

Bottom Line: I enjoyed it and I would read other books in this series. This is the first book that I’ve read by Sierra Cartwright. I chose to read this ARC because she is often mentioned as a good author by those who also read some of my favorite authors in this genre. At the beginning of the story, I felt “out of the loop”, and this is normal when you’re a first time reader in the middle of a series. As the story progressed, it grew on me. Sierra Cartwright’s style is similar to other authors that I enjoy, who write about BDSM. The scenes were sensual, very descriptive and (for someone not in the lifestyle) seemed realistic. The only thing that didn’t sit well with me was the speed at which the relationship progressed: it didn’t portray a safe environment. But that being said, it’s a book, and the story has to develop a bit more quickly that in “real life” because an author needs to keep her readers motivated! And that she did! I my eyes, the bit of “suspense” towards the end felt like it was “out of the blue”. Again, because I wasn’t familiar with this series, maybe there should have been a bit more of a “prelude” at the beginning of the story, rather than just jumping into the relationship. But that’s just me… it didn’t take away from the fact that I enjoyed the book. 4/5 stars! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What he didn't expect after all this time was the intrigue he felt when he saw Jennifer. 'Initiation' is the first book in Sierra Cartwright's "Hawkeye: Denver" series and it's wonderful! All those experiences and feelings of a first-time BDSM scene, all the new discoveries, all the rollercoaster emotions when you meet a new person are delivered in spades Ms. Cartwright lays out this story for us. I can't wait to see where this plot cliffhanger takes us next.
