When installing IRS2Go, you may see a list of Android permissions that the app requests. To help you understand why we ask for certain permissions, we’ve provided a breakdown of the usage.


"Location – Uses the device’s location."
The app allows taxpayers to search for nearby Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) locations, which offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify.

"Phone – Uses one or more of: phone, call log."
The app allows users to make phone calls to the IRS or VITA/TCE locations.

"Photos/Media/Files – Uses one or more of: files on the device, such as images, videos, or audio; the device’s external storage."
The Free Tax Help mapping feature uses these permissions to save map images and data to your phone's storage. This means that your phone won't need to download the same map data every time.

Ratings and reviews

ID.me & the non . gov site aren't going to be correct and insecure thus far not allowing access to correct information and or accounts and good reason the apps authentication doesn't appear to be correct and my safety settings block the app and the pop up app junk also.

i dont know if its even believable when i see in posts people getting in contact with an irs representative but literally their automated prompts will not get you to one. no matter how many times you say speak to a representative. All I've been trying to do is get a quick inquiry to make sure my refund is fine but no i got to talk to a robot 🙄

This app has always worked for me in years past. This year, all I get is "The information you have entered does not match," or, "You have exceeded your daily limit." This app is totally useless now. I wish I could give it zero stars.
