As of a recent update, the app now apparently requires you to enable WiFi scanning to find a location. The only reason this would be a requirement is if Niantic/Scopely are also getting this information. There is no reasonable functional requirement for this, it's just Niantic/Scopely trying to get more data without paying for it or offering anything in return. The app is broken and non-functional for me now.

Campfire is part of Niantic's attempt to push local activities in Pokémon Go, but it's missing a lot of functionality. Though intended to encourage playing with people nearby, there isn't any distance slider for you to define "nearby". Because of this, I keep getting notifications from flares on the other side of the city, which really undermines the value of the app. Being able to set a distance radius would be a quick fix, but won't solve the problem - it needs user-defined local areas.

Was hoping this would be a Niantic app that wouldn't be 1*. Downloaded to connect with the people I've been playing pokemon go with for years. I can't use it yet, because I need to be invited by someone with the app. But to ask someone to invite me, I'd need to message them on the app. Good work Niantic. You can't even copy a chat app...
