TELUS Health MyPet FAQs
Who is TELUS Health MyPet for?
TELUS Health MyPet connects Canadians with vets and vet technicians. It's particularly helpful for individuals without a family vet and those seeking answers when a regular family vet is not available.
When should I book a consultation with a veterinarian vs. a vet technician?
If you are concerned about new symptoms or suspect your pet may need medication or an adjustment to a current medication, book a consultation with a vet.
If you have questions about, or would like help with behaviour, training, weight management and nutrition, life stage care, or preventive care, book a consultation with a vet technician.
What can TELUS Health MyPet veterinarians treat?
Vets on the app can help with preventative care, triage, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions in dogs and cats. After seeing a vet, you will be given a treatment plan which may include a referral for a physical exam, prescriptions and/or diagnostic tests.
Common concerns for telemedicine include:
* Allergies (itching, hair loss, skin lesions)
* Nutritional and weight management
* Mild stomach upset (vomiting & diarrhea)
* Parasite control (ticks, fleas)
* Life stages advice (kitten/puppyhood, geriatric care)
* Most minor infections (ear, skin, eye)
* Behavioral issues (anxiety, aggression)
* Chronic disease management
The vet may decide that an in-person visit is required to ensure your pet receives appropriate care.
