Update has made the app basically unusable. It crashes whenever I do basically anything. Anytime I use the explore function, check submitted checklists, or have the app running in the background and then open it up - bam, crash. Aside from the nonstop crashes, the inability to edit the time or distance without deleting the entire track is asinine. The auto-detection of overlap, but not being able to account for continuing to bird after prematurely stopped the track (or the app crashes) is dumb.

great app, though I'm not sure why this app and Merlin are separate. couldn't the sound and photo ID be incorporated into eBird to make it easier to maintain your lists? Also when using Merlin and identifying a bird, it would be great if when it took you to ebird, it would prefill in the bird that you've seen - I always have to enter it every time which seems strange when I clicked a button saying "This is my bird"

As Alexander Hamilton says this app in a previous version used to be reliable wherever you had a mobile signal. In order to use it away from that you had to "preload " a checklist. As I always knew where I was going and rarely went to areas where there was no signal tho app worked perfectly for me. This new version is supposed to revert to a basic list if you have a poor GPS signal ( which can and does happen in areas where you had a great signal 5 minutes ago, all day the previous day , etc....i.e. there is no way of knowing when you're going to get a good signal. 9 times out of ten it reverts to a UK list in the UK, ad then you can choose one that suits your purpose from previous locations , or use the full UK list. It is te tenth out of ten yhay is the problem. Sometimes when toy are not getting a good signal it sticks on "Waiting for GPS accuracy" , which it is meant to leave after 15 seconds if you aren't getting a signal..and an hour later you still can't get past that, even if you come completely out of ebird and start from scratch. Just as suddenly it can start working again.Occasionaly it gets to "waiting for GPS accuracy" , goes until your phone dims and when you turn on the screen again just crashes ebird and you can then try again. If you are putting multiple lists on , because it uses GPS, it is a huge drain on the barttery compared to the previous version , but that is only a worry if you're putting 30 or more lists on in a day. My verdict is "should be a lot better" I still use the app , but it can be infuriatingly frustrating at times , and sometimes reversion to pen and paper is necessary as it just won't work. I love e-bird and wish they'd ge this app working properly
