Irrespective of the content, and there are some good writers on substack (if you want to subscribe to them), the app is extremely bug-gy. Windows Web access works slightly better, but the Android app is one frustration after another. Post an article with a serious mistake, you can't edit it on the app, only on the desktop. It's also very slow. It doesn't show up in the view of open apps, 'close all' doesn't close it, what you are typing can be lost if you switch apps...

This app is awful. I love substack, and the idea behind it, but the android app has been drowning in bugs for years. And it hasn't improved at all. In browser on mobile, it malfunctions in a whole different set of ways. Update 2026: App is still horrifically bad.

love the app and wish it stays this way with no reels type feature or excessive ads and AI pushed on you . I feel like theres a genuine connection between you and others. this is what social media is supposed to be. however, I've had a problem that I find quite annoying. I can't seem to upload posts or notes or even write comments on notes using the app.. however I can do so on the browser version. if you can fix this definitely would give 5☆ edit: Please fix your app, now it's not even opening
