Photos/Media/Files
Access to photos is required to store parking reminders.

The camera allows the app to scan credit cards and expedite the checkout process.

This allows the app to understand when connectivity exists to give you the data you need.

Other various permissions allow the app to: receive google notifications, process notifications while the device is trying to sleep, access American’s web services, and vibrate for important messages.

Ratings and reviews

Redesign looks much nicer, but has A LOT of bugs... Loses my reservation a lot, tells me "Your reservation could not be found" when I need my boarding pass to get on the plane!! Removed the add to calendar button?!? Only shares text, which calendar app can't quite interpret. Please add a Save to Google Wallet button!!! AA is the only airline that doesn't at this point... Still only links to bag tracking from the home page but not the itinerary details page, which disappears half the time.

Has quit working. It will not open. Just keeps loading, and loading, and loading. Have to go to their site on a browser since the app is now useless. From other reviews seems to have started messing up over a month ago, and nothing has been done to correct it. About on par with traveling and the airline industry nowadays. Which means: junk.

Absolutely the worst airline app I've used. Flight details in the app are non-existent, you have to go to the mobile website to get any info. Other apps at least link to their mobile site. Worse, the app stops working if you don't use it for a few days. The last couple trips I have had on AA I have had to uninstall and reinstall the app just to check in and get my boarding pass, even on separate legs of the same trip. AA is horrible all around as an airline, and they live down to that here.
