The Lufthansa app uses an Android Foreground Service during the sign-out process to ensure that logout operations continue and complete successfully even if the app is moved to the background or closed by the user. This security feature helps ensure that active sessions are terminated and authentication data is removed from the device.

Ratings and reviews

Suddenly got logged out and can no longer login right before departure. Reset my password several times and still getting the same error message: "1 error occured, A technical error has occurred." I was forced to obtain my flight information with a desktop PC, where my password works 10/10 attempts...then I see people having the same complaints for years. How can a major flight group's client account system be build in such a shabby way...

Years later and the app has gone from bad to almost unusable. It logs out several times a day when not in Germany, re-login takes several minutes due to multiple Cloudflare checks (which often fail overseas or behind mandatory vpn's) leaving one without flight information or even boarding passes. Keep Swiss app installed in parallel and you may be lucky that you can still access your data there. Almost any other airline does better than this.

After the latest update once again only getting endless "Data downloaded failed. Pull to refresh now." cycles. Can use it to check in, but need to request the boarding pass via email, as the app fails to ever load it. Great job at repeatedly breaking what used to be a functional app. Honestly becoming a bad joke. Maybe have IT run the development instead of marketing?
