Ratings and reviews

I use the app a lot while travelling so I have a spotty connection often. While you can download courses, if you don't turn off mobile data and have an interrupted connection the app will freeze after a variation until you restart the app. If you do turn off data, you may encounter sync issues where recent reviews are forgotten (and also it's a hassle to do considering I have the courses downloaded locally). Also there's often lag of 5-10 seconds when switching variations.

App is good to have but there's issues. It lacks a lot of key functionality compared to desktop version, and also the critical functionality that is also missing in the desktop version is much harder to work around here. Sometimes it's slow to load things. It seems to get a bit confused with the offline mode. There's also a bug that causes pieces to fly off and get stuck.

Very good if you play against opponents that will play the top moves. The app will tell you and imprint all the best replies to the best moves. However, for players at my level, I hardly get to play against the positions I'm being taught because we don't play top moves. It will help you with theory but doesn't seem to help a lot when your opponent takes the game out of "book" within the first few moves and then you are going alone in uncharted territory. Still, a very good app.
