About this app

Say cheerio to queuing and pay with the new Esso App - a speedy and secure way to pay for your fuel from the comfort of your car.
Fuelling with the Esso App is as easy as 1-2-3!
1. Select your pump
2. Approve your payment
3. Start fuelling when prompted.

Here’s a few things you should know about the app:
• Pay for petrol or diesel at participating Esso branded stations with PayPal or Apple Pay for quick and secure payment
• New! From 1 June you will be able to collect Nectar points on your transactions (without the need to carry your Nectar card)
• As an additional incentive, from 1 June you can collect 1000 bonus Nectar points. Collect 250 bonus Nectar points after your first fill of 30 litres or more using the app, another 250 bonus points the second time and an extra 500 points on your third fill.
• We suggest setting me up at home before you arrive at the station so you’re all ready to go!
• The app will ask you to select the maximum amount you’d like to fuel. This value will be reserved in your account until your bank can see how much you’ve actually fuelled
• You can choose a maximum amount of fuel between £5 and £140 to reduce the value reserved in your account.
• All your digital receipts are stored in one convenient location and emailed to you
• Find your nearest Esso petrol station

We’re still rolling out the Esso App to all of our sites across the UK as quick as we can, so if your local site doesn’t have it just yet, it will soon! You can check the app’s Esso station locator to find a mobile enabled site near you.

shockingly bad app. So unreliable. When it works it's great. In and out, as it should be. But about 3/5 times it has connection issues so you've put your fuel in and like this morning I'm pacing up and down the forecourt while it tells me I'm still refuelling when I've finished. It wastes time then as you have to go into the shop as you have no idea whether you've paid or not. Today it said connection error in the end but it had gone through. today it was the late receipt that confirmed it.

10/10/25 I have been using this app for a few years now. A bit hit and miss to load sometimes. Also it showes the pump in use when it's not. Taking the nozzle out and back in can clear it. Otherwise you can pick up the previous transaction. Awaiting the new version as the existing one does not complete the transaction leaving it on filling. I managed to close the app not relising I hadn't paid. fortunately I'm a regular and getting a COSTA the attendant told me payment was outstanding!

Good when it works. Too often though when I go to fill up i get the message that the pay via the app isn't working so I need to pay inside. Coincidentally though this usually happens when I would be due to the extra bonus nectar points that are exclusive to paying via the app.
