About this app

NYDocSubmit enables residents of New York State to submit required documents for SNAP, HEAP, Temporary Assistance, and Medicaid – avoiding another trip to the local office.
This App is available to residents of Albany, Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Dutchess, Erie, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Genesee, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schoharie, Schuyler, Seneca, St. Lawrence, Steuben, Suffolk, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, Ulster, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Westchester, Wyoming, and Yates counties, at this time. This App is NOT monitored for emergencies. You must contact your Social Services District office directly if you need help to address an emergency. DO NOT use this App to submit an initial application for SNAP, HEAP, Temporary Assistance, and Medicaid, a periodic report, or a recertification application.

DO NOT submit sensitive images, such as those containing HIV status or domestic violence information and/or addresses that must remain confidential to safeguard you or a household member. If you need to submit such information, or if the App is not available, provide the documents to your District in a manner OTHER THAN through this App, such as through U.S. Postal Service, in person or kiosk (if available) or fax machine.

Ratings and reviews

Really convenient, I'm very grateful for this digital option! The 4 stars is provisional because I've only submitted the documents, I haven't seen how it goes to process them from the app yet. Edit - It's a year later. Last year went well and it was a lifesaver this year. A huge help especially when in a pinch with paperwork like now, with these submissions overlapping with tax time.

Convenient, but Could be Improved. Having the app remember submission information (via drop-down if multiple case numbers) would be a welcome time saver. Also, the ability to crop your document after taking the picture would greatly reduce the distortion from trying to fit items of various sizes into a set box. Hopefully images aren't as distorted on the receiving end as this app makes them appear. Lastly, I wish document categories aligned with "Requirement" categories or vice versa.

4 stars for the convenience factor, however black text on black background makes it hard to read. Also, you can't just upload pictures, or if you can I couldn't find it and I consider myself fairly tech-savvy. You have to actually take pictures of things and, for income - with everything being paperless nowadays, that's super annoying to have to email yourself screenshots of different things and take a pic on a desktop - if I can even find said things. Also the timeout should be longer, imo.
