Less.ms is a free, ad-free SMS/MMS app focused on spam reduction. It defines a varied set of rules that run privately on your own phone to allow, deny, or tag messages for organization. Pestered with spam? Lessms integrates with the community at https://less.ms, where you can share, test, and discuss both spam and rules and load any rules you like through a QR code.
It's got lots of ways to customize your UI-- light and dark themes out of the box and sharable themes from the theme builder on the website. It lets you build and share custom user-defined macros, and set your own background images that you can fade and blur. You control per-conversation notification sounds, and can choose whether animated .gifs play on their own.
Do you miss being able to organize your content? Less.ms lets you tag your messages, see message counts by tag, and instantly filter your view to a specific tag. You can manually tag messages with existing or new tags on the fly, and you can make a rule to tag inbound message for you.
The rules are sophisticated and powerful and can be used for filtering and tagging and they run locally on your phone-- not through our servers. Rules can be challenging, so let the community help. Here are some examples of what you can do with rules to allow, deny, or tag:
* Filter by keywords (anywhere in your text, including domain names)
* Filter by numbers (phone numbers are first collapsed to numeric only, so you don't worry about formatting-- accepts comma separated lists)
* Filter by regex (regular expressions allow for very flexible pattern matching)
* Filter by contacts (filter by phone numbers, first, last or full names)
* Filter by IP (useful if a spammer uses multiple random phone numbers and keeps sending links from different domain names that point to the same server)
* Invert any filter (example, allow every contact except ...)
Blocked messages are sent into a "Junk" folder, where they can be returned back to your inbox, or optionally scrubbed of personal info and donated to our public spam library. It also lets you backup and restore your messages.
