I've been using this app now for a couple of months. It soon replaced my 'standard' stock messaging app as my default for messages. It houses a comfortable, customizable interface. A word of warning to all, however. Check the settings before use! I hadn't, and the group messages I've been sending for the past two months have been sending as an MMS instead of SMS as I'd intended; this has resulted in nearly £20-worth of out-of-tariff charges on my phone bill..! For that reason, I've dropped my star rating from a 5 to a 3; this wasn't simply "my own mistake" - this is a hidden feature that users should be prompted to opt IN to, not have to search through to opt OUT of.
I love this app! this is the best texting app out there. for everyone complaining that the app is $1.99 or whatever and if he needs money that bad, someone made this. this is their work you sure as hell don't work for free right? they're always listening to the reviews, updating the software and making sure it doesn't crash. ridiculous what everyone bitches about these days.
The best This is the best android app for text app. The free version is not annoying to use. The ads are placed right. Very smooth, very fluent. The app size is small too. God bless to the developer.
I'm still loving Textra, but it can get EVEN better... So it's a good thing the developers are on top of things & are constantly adding new features & improving it so that it'll eventually have everything we could all possibly want in a texting app. THANK YOU FOR REMOVING THE ADS! But... we still need more personalization options. Like themes, & backgrounds, etc. My fav feature is the quick reply box & that I can choose whether or not to open it. I love that it opens like a floating window, so I don't have to exit my current app to text someone back. No other app does it so flawlessly. WHAT IT STILL NEEDS: The ability to set a diff notification sound for reminders so we know it's not a new text. Thx for a great app, keep up the good work :)
Having problems The UI is good, fast, smooth and clear. But I'm having problems with the deleted msgs, they just reappear when i reopen the app. Until you fix this, i will have to rely on my default app
The best texting app I started with Samsung's stock messages, which was very basic, and slowed down with too many messages. After discovering Google Hangouts (Google's iMessage) I used that for a while, but it also became sluggish. (Not to mention a slew of bugs) Finally I stumbled upon Textra. I have over 40,000 text messages and it is still as smooth as can be. It is slow when you first get it while it optimizes itself (the app tells you this) and then it becomes blazing fast. It's feature-rich and extremely smooth.
√ IMPORTANT: Protection from Stagefright! Video messages can contain an exploit called Stagefright that can harm your phone. Textra SMS protects by ensuring new video messages can not automatically run the exploit.
√ Textra can now compress (resize) videos when sending (KitKat and Lollipop only).
√ New smooth animations when going from Conversation List to Search screen.
√ Added Blacklist option in overflow menu in Quick Reply.
√ Bug fixes.
